醍醐寺

Daigoji Tenple

📝醍醐天皇の冥福を祈るため建立され,

病気を癒し, 苦しみを除くとして

人々の信仰を集めてきた醍醐寺

京都で最古の建造物と言われている

国宝五重塔は, 貴重な平安建築塔で,

その内部に描かれた壁画も

国宝に指定されている。

特に空海像は、

現存する中で日本最古のものとされている。

秀吉が晩年に"醍醐の花見"に際し

築庭させた三宝院庭園は,

太閤時代の栄華を感じられ,

春になると広大な境内に

約１０００本の桜が咲き誇ります。

📝 Daigoji Temple was built to pray

for the repose of the soul

of Emperor Daigo and has been

worshipped by people as a place to

heal illness and remove suffering.

The five-storey pagoda, said to be the

oldest structure in Kyoto,

is more than 1,000 years old and

the wall paintings inside are also

designated as national treasures.

The Sanboin Garden, built by a great

samurai Hideyoshi in 1598 is a reminder

of the glory of this era,

and in spring the vast precincts

are filled with around 1,000 cherry trees in bloom.
