Touring Kyoto's World Heritage Sites is a part of my daily life.
As I visit them again and again, I am fascinated by their depth.
延暦寺
Enryakuji Temple
📝「日本仏教の母山」と称される
延暦寺は,
約1200年前に最澄が比叡山に
草庵を作ったことを
始まりとし,
平安京の鬼門を守る道場と
されていた。
比叡山の山上から
東麓にかけて約100km,
3塔16谷のお堂すべてを含む
エリアが境内になる。
時間をかけて心穏やかに
お訪ねしたいところです、
冬の比叡山延暦寺,
この空気感に惹かれます
Mt.Hiei in winter,
Enryakuji Temple with
snow on the ground ❄️
Enryaku-ji Temple was originally
founded about 1,200 years ago by Saicho,
a Buddhist priest who built a hermitage on
Mt. Hiei, and was regarded as a place to
guard the demon gate of the ancient capital Kyoto.
The temple grounds cover
an area of about 100 km from the top of Mt.
Hiei to the eastern foot of the mountain.
It is a place to take time to visit in
peace and tranquility.
